Dr. Aaesha AlNuaimi

Dr. Aaesha Alnuaimi is the Director of the Innovation Centre at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). With over ten years of extensive experience in the solar energy and sustainability field, Dr. Alnuaimi has established herself as a leading expert in her domain. She holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s of Science in Microsystems Engineering with honors from Khalifa University (Masdar Institute), in collaboration with the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA. Dr. Alnuaimi’s pioneering work in nanotechnology for solar cell applications has distinguished her as the first Emirati to excel in this specialized field. During her studies, she gained experience from her work at Global Foundries in Germany and as a teaching assistant at the department of electrical engineering at Masdar Institute. Additionally, she has completed the Master’s of Science in Big Data & Business Analytics Executive Leadership Program from ESCP Business School. Driven by a commitment to continuous growth, Dr. Alnuaimi actively seeks professional development opportunities. She has successfully completed the Impactful Leadership Program at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development and The Public Sector Innovation Diploma Program at The Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation. In addition, she has participated in the ‘Women on International Boards’ program organized by Dubai Women Establishment (DWE) in collaboration with the Institute of Directors (IoD) in London. Dr. Alnuaimi has made significant contributions to the solar energy field through her extensive research endeavors, publishing over 30 peer-reviewed applied research papers in esteemed international journals and conferences. Her exceptional achievements have earned her well-deserved recognition and prestigious awards. In 2020, she was honored with the International Solar Alliance Award and the Women in Renewables Asia of the Year Award, acknowledging her remarkable contributions to the field of solar power. Dr. Alnuaimi has also received numerous other accolades, including the Dubai Medal for Specialized Employee in 2021, the Middle East Solar Industry Association’s Woman of the Year 2019, the Sheikh Rashid Award for Outstanding Science, the Young Emirati Researchers Prize by the National Research Foundation, and the DEWA Distinguished Specialized Employee Award. She represented the UAE at the Future Energy Leaders Program, one of the programs emanating from the World Energy Council to build and develop future energy leaders. She is a member of the Mohammed bin Rashid Academy of Scientists and Chairman of the Public Outreach Committee. Through her expertise, dedication, and exceptional achievements, Dr. Alnuaimi continues to shape the future of solar energy, inspiring others, and driving sustainable innovation in the industry.
