Ken Chua

(these)abilities

Ken Chua is the Founder & Director of (these)abilities – an inclusive design & technology agency that works with companies & organizations to build inclusive policies, products, services, environments & campaigns that serves not only persons with disabilities, but as a delightful lived experience for all. Ken spends his time exploring sustainable & scalable ways to prove the value of disability towards mainstream society as contributors of societal value and not just as beneficiaries – through an inclusive & participatory design process. Ken has held talks & workshops as well as launched collaborative inclusive design projects with organizations such as Google, Adobe, Grab, Embraer, ComfortDelGro Bus, Frasers Property as well as several governmental ministries & agencies in Singapore. Currently, Ken is on a learning journey to understand how diverse cultures across the world embrace and/or reject disability – from being seen as ‘devils’ in certain parts of West Africa to being revered as demi-gods in India; Comparing the differences in disability accommodation between disabled tourists and locals in high-hospitality Bali & identifying just how happy are persons with disabilities in the happiest countries in the world. Ken is honored to be recognized and contribute ably to multiple communities of practice including Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 2019 (Social Entrepreneurs), Obama Foundation Leader 2019: Asia Pacific, Young Societal Leaders @ Singapore Summit 2019, World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers, Ashoka Foundation’s ChangemakerXChange & the Center for Social Impact Strategy at the University of Pennsylvania.
